Fall Guys going free to play on June 21
The next Fall Guys season is a little different, as the game will be going fully free to play. This is happening at the same time as the game finally launches on Switch and Xbox. Full cross-play and cross-progression is available, so you can keep your cosmetics and big fat dubs when you leave the house or switch rooms.
The new season, appropriately titled Free For All, features “brand-new events and locations” but the big changes are in progression. A new in-game currency, Show-Bucks, will support a season pass structure for those who want to invest. Folks who bought the original game will all receive the “Legacy Pack” – a batch of cosmetics and the first Season Pass.
The Season Pass will live alongside the already-existing progression system and Kudos currency. It doesn’t look like any actual gameplay content – maps, events, etc. – will be exclusive to the Season Pass, as you’d expect. Here’s the livestream archive of the announcement, if you missed it.
Fall Guys is still getting around 8,000 concurrents a day. That’s a far cry from the six-figure glorydays, but not bad for a game of its age, and more than enough to carry games. It will be interesting to see how much the numbers get pumped up.
